What is a Bed and Breakfast accommodation?

Bed and breakfast, often referred to as ‘B&B',
‘B and B’ or ‘BnB’, by definition is a private house that provides accommodation and meal for a limited number of paying guests. As a minimum full cooked or continental breakfast is served. The less formal, home-like atmosphere and personal attention to each guest is typical for this category.

Bed and Breakfast establishments have different features in different countries.
In England B&Bs usually consist of less than five bedrooms and provide acceptable comfort with functional decor at affordable price, suitable for every budget. They are classified as ‘Guest Accommodation’ by the English Tourism Council and have their own diamond-rating. According to level of service and facilities offered, the diamonds range from one to five. Some establishments are given Silver and Gold Awards if they provide clean and nicely-decorated guest-rooms, quality level of service, wide variety of amenities and excellent customer care.
In US Bed & Breakfasts can be of any size and standards. Some of them offer luxury and great comfort in large, elegant Victorian mansions of historical significance, equipped with antique furniture.

Bed and breakfasts may be located both in city centres and in rural areas. In some daytime recreation and tourism activities may be organized. There are B&Bs designed to suit different budgets and needs, to meet the requirements both of the leisure tourists and holiday makers and those to travel on business.

Each Bed & Breakfast accommodation has its own ambience, characteristics and point of attraction to guests.
